  1. I purchased this item for my wife for Christmas. We have an older model ipod with the wheel. When I went to attach the ipod to the dock I got it to work and realized that it was not charging. I could get it to play and it did sound very nice, however, not only would it not charge but would only turn on or off and control the volume. It would not do any thing else. I finally went through the trouble shooting guide and after reading all of the things that could be wrong, I found at the bottom of trouble shooting guide that it will not work with an ipod that has a wheel with 4 buttons above the wheel.

It is not compatible with the SoundDock Series II. It says that you can listen to this type of ipod when it is docked but it will not charge. This is also misleading because even though it will play it will do nothing more. It will not even change to the next song without removing the ipod and manually changing the song.

Sorry it doesn’t work like I had expected it to.

  2. Hey, what can I say? BOSE is the best sound quality you can have, but this Bose SoundDock for the iPod sells for only $299 and sounds just as good at the one for $599.

  3. For the money, this is really disappointing. Despite Bose’s claims, there is no stereo effect, only monaural. The sound is mediocre. One hears neither the very highs or very lows. In fact, the sound is about equivalent to the $79.95 Logitech speakers for my laptop. Also, the volume is not very loud even when it is maxed, so there is no rich, roomfilling sound even when listening to classical music — or rock ‘n roll for that matter.

  4. The Bose sound dock is high quality BUT…I have an ipod nano with FM radio. The FM is obtained through the earphones…But you cannot place the ipod in the Bose with the earphones attached thus no FM capability….can’t believe Bose did not get this right.

  5. i use to have the soundock 1st generation; the new one does not ship with any ipod sound dock inserts. Make sure that you do not break your ipod or the Bose soundodck as the ipod cannot be securely docked. They wanted to save pennies… it makes it an average product now and overpriced. Sounds is good; no improvement with previous generation.
